He'd been here before, many times. Deep blue eyes lifted from their place on the river and stared into the abyss of the dew-kissed forest. It wasn't like he had anything better to do, except, you know, hunt and survive. Bandit had not always been a street cat. At one point it had been difficult to even catch himself a good meal. He refused to eat mice or rats (which were really just big mice anyway), and eating garbage was not his favorite thing to do. Even though he barely got anything to eat at the cat lady's house anyway.

Bandit was waiting for him to come back. The one who'd taught him how to hunt, who'd saved his life. He knew his obsession was probably unfounded and dangerous, but he didn't care. This was the tom who'd saved his life. Once again he sniffed the border and thought about crossing it for the fiftieth time. That was an exaggeration, but it might as well be the truth.

A chuckle floated from him softly as he thought about it. Then a shrug and he turned around to leave. He would come back tomorrow. Perhaps he was just caught up in his duties and Bandit didn't want to disrespect the borders without him, so it was better to just wait and come back later.
