Having been born a loner, she spent most of her childhood with her family, and then the rest of her time so far completely alone. But she doesn't let this bother her. She's still a very playful and humorous molly who likes to make light of certain situations. She often finds herself in tough situations, but she's clever enough and strong enough to be able to bail herself out relatively quickly. She likes causing trouble for others, just to see what would happen, and her curiosity often gets the better of her. She's very adventurous, and is always exploring new places. She's not afraid to snoop around the clan borders, though she has yet to risk actually stepping over them. She's bold, but not foolish-- she knows when to back off. After all, the only cat looking after her is herself now.

Even so, she's surprisingly easygoing and laidback. She always seems to keep her cool even in dangerous situations. She knows how to bail herself out of trouble whenever she needs to, and isn't afraid to fight back if she must. She tries to avoid fights if she can help it, as it's difficult to be able to heal herself without any help, but sometimes it's necessary in order to ensure her survival. She does what she must to survive out here, even if she doesn't necessarily like it. The ability to keep her cool in high stress situations has been a saving grace in many situations. She's also much smarter than most give her credit for-- she may be strong and powerful, but she also knows how to outsmart others and isn't afraid to use that to her advantage.

Chestnut can be incredibly stubborn where it counts. When she wants to explore a place, there's no one around that will stop her, and this often lands her in trouble. No one can tell her what to do or not do, and no one can scold her when she gets into trouble. She values the freedom, even if it is a somewhat lonely existence. Chestnut is someone that will hold a grudge for a long time if she's been wronged, and is incredibly vengeful. It wouldn't be out of character for her to go out of her way to try and enact revenge on those she feels deserve it. Especially when it comes to others that try and harm her loved ones-- that's easily where she draws the line. She can be a bit grouchy on her off days, but living on her own has its perks, and that means there's no one around that can bother her when she's in a bad mood.

As irritable as she may be, she tries to keep her head up, even if continuing seems pointless sometimes. She finds it crucial to look on the bright side during times of stress. When it comes to interacting with other cats, Chestnut's very much unused to social situations. As such, she can be rather blunt, and often tells things as they are. She can be a bit rough around the edges and somewhat defensive, as she's not entirely used to being in other cats' presences. She's also rather confrontational, and will easily rise to a fight if someone goads her into it. She's very easy to rile up, but it's unwise to mess with her. She's been in her fair share of fights and is extremely powerful. However, she's not very agile and tires easily, so it's a bit of give-and-take. At the end of the day, she's just trying to live her life-- but her discovery of the clans has made her wary... and also curious.

Chestnut is born with three sisters to a pair of wandering loners. For the majority of her childhood they remain here, in the depths of a forest in a hidden little clearing. It is here that Chestnut first learns how to hunt, and even learns the basics of fighting and defending herself. Her days are full of rough-housing and playing with her siblings.

She is nearly fully grown when her world turns upside down. Their little family is suddenly ambushed by an angry group of rogues. Despite how hard she fights, the family are unable to fend them off and are forced to retreat. Chestnut is separated from her family as a result and winds up in a place completely unfamiliar to her. It is here that her wanderlust begins, as well as the urge to find her family.

Days had turned into weeks, and into months, with no sign of her family. Chestnut is about ready to give up when she discovers a strong scent line. She had stumbled straight into the clans' territory. In her confused state she encounters a Shadowclan patrol and is promptly chased off. She isn't fond of how hostile these clan cats are, but she is interested in their territory, and wants to see how much she can push their buttons. She decides to stick around and see what she can do.
